A new beginning

For me that is. :)
School is ending, I only have 3 finals left and then summer. Work on my novel which i have mention is actually going to start along with finishing a few side projects. I have been getting free books for my kindle which I think I may start reviewing here. :) And I think I got a job. Just waiting to hear back from them.

It's all very exciting and it means I will be back for a bit. (Hopefully longer.) I plan to do a review every week or two I'll decide fully once I get my work schedule and see what it is like. I will also be posting about my WIP and other more everyday things so, I should be here two days a week. I think it will be very exciting and I hope you will drop by and comment or what not. :) My first review will be later today or tomorrow. :)

Carnival

No excuses for my absence other than I have not been writing at all. I write today because Canival got published and is for sale on Amazon.

I am super excited. I think this is my best story so far. A preview of it is here. Also the good news is, this publication has sparked my writing flame again and so i should be writing more and back on here soon. Jeez, over a month has passes that I have not been around you fine people. So much has happened that it does not feel like it has been that long. I feel bad for being such a bad blogger lately but I have settled into my schedule with time for blogging and writing penciled in. I just need to write a list of blog topics and then we are all set. J

So the things I have been doing that kept me from you are varied.

1. I started my second semester of my junior year of college.

2. My dad went into the hospital and then got released.

3. I celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday with him.

4. Valentine’s Day was also celebrated.

5. . I volunteered and help take photos at a Polar Plunge

I’m sure a lot of other things happened too but that what I thought of. I hope you all had a lovely valentine’s day. He gave me gas money to be able to see him and a candy bouquet and a rose and other stuff, and it was really lovely.

The only other thing going on lately is an extreme lack of writing (other than notes). I don’t know which story to write. A new one from my head, one to fit an anthologies criteria, or to finish an old one. It’s rather hard to decide and I don’t know what to do. Any advice?

Well one thing I can do is write down more ideas so I am off to do that and then go to class. Have a good day.

Dreaming

Have you ever watched or read or saw so much of something in one day that you dreamed about it that night? Because recently that is what been happening to me. First it was the game Dark Cloud, I had been watching my boyfriend play it while organizing my Kindle. He played so much that when we went to bad I had an odd dreamed based around the same concept. Basically it's that the world got destroyed but the Fairy King saves everything in little bubbles which you need to connect so that you can put the world back together one town at a time. It's a fun game and I have been playing it lately but, to dream about it was weird. Especially since in my dream the bubbles were filled with goo and it was just odd. My boyfriend also had a Dark Cloud themed dream. Maybe it’s a sign.

It also has happened with the Dragonlance books I have been reading. I am now onto the second book of the first trilogy in the series and last night I was reading and tried to go to bed but couldn't get the story out of my head so I kept reading until about 3:30ish am. Then I had dreams about that story which was interesting, but it made more sense than the Dark Cloud dream. This one was just fighting and character interaction.

Hibernation

Hello all! Sorry I have been absent for a month. I have been in hibernation of sorts. A book coma type thing.

Well first it was more of a finals one, but those are over now and I did really well in all of my classes so that makes me very very happy. Since then I have been sleeping and then of course it was the holidays and you see my wonderful significant other gave me a kindle fire and it’s amazing! I have been reading almost nonstop. First I read the Hunger Games, and man is it amazing I cannot wait for the movie. I am waiting on the second and third book though but I am excited to read them soon once I finish the trilogy I am reading now. The book I am on is called “Dragons of Autumn Twilight” from the series Dragonlance. It may be an old book but man it is amazing! If you like fantasy and adventure pick up these books! Autumn Twilight is the first book in the first trilogy of the series.

Now I am off to start my story for the first week of Write 1 Sub 1 2012. I will see you all next week. I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas!

Thanks and Procrastination

I know this was supposed to appear on Friday, and well I know it didn’t. School is winding down and things have been a bit stressful. Still are, I have 2 long papers due Thursday and Friday respectively, and one is half done and the other I haven’t even started. I’m a bad procrastinator, and for some reason lately it’s been even worse but I’ll get to that after some thanks.

First of all I want to thank everyone who follows me. It means a lot to me. I am sorry if it doesn’t seem that way from some of my other posts. I truly appreciate l of you, and I hope to get to know you all more as my blogging continues. So in this time of thanks I want you to know I am thankful for all of you and I hope you all the best for the holidays.

I’m also thankful to Rebecca a lovely girl who edits for me, since I’m not the best at it. I owe her a lot of thanks for what she does for me. I hope one day to be able to repay her.

Also to my loving family who supports me even if they haven’t seen what I write. For my significant other who always thinks the best of me always, and encourages me to follow my dream of writing a novel. My roommate who gives me inspiration and helps me keep a roof over my head (splitting rent is nice). Thank you to all of you.

I don’t think I deserve any of you, but I am glad you are here. :)

I’m trying to improve my habits, and get at least 1 blog post up a week and once finals are over hopefully 2. I guess my procrastination factors in to blogging too, but I’m working on it because I want to get to know you all better, so please bear with me.

As for school I don’t know if that will ever get any better. Lately I just have no will to write anything for school. My research paper is half done, because we had to hand bits in for class and its for my major so I know I need to do it. My politics paper (which is the one due Thursday) I haven’t started. I looked at it and have been reading up on the topics but there is nothing on paper yet, and I feel no need to do it. I am going to try though, my hardest.

I hope you all have fantastic days, I’m going to go and try not to continue my paper procrastination.

Hello!

So I do not know how many of you have tried to comment of my posts but I recently found out tht it was not working. Sad day. I fixed it now though. IIf for some reason it doesn’t work feel free to email me at kel dot nicol dot 5 at gmail dot com. J I love hearing from people.

I know today is supposed to be about writing and it will be just not about actually writing more of being a writer but if you want to read my latest and comment or critique go here.

Anyway on to the rest of the title (Dis)Organized. I do not know how neat and tidy other writers are but I’m a mess. I talk about that in a blog found here. Today is not about my house being messy however its about being a disorganized writer. Not in that my writing doesn’t make sense, but more in that I write in notebooks and places and then they all get lost. I wish I had a picture to show you of all these notebooks and maybe next Tuesday I will have one but right now I don’t.

Do you have any tip/ways you keep all your writings and notes and scribbles organized?

I am currently trying expandable folders. One I find all my notebooks I will put them in a box (which I will decorate) I think. Then any loose leaf stories will get added to the folders. What do you think?

I guess in a way this in my fall organization for spring cleaning. J Plus it keeps me warm to move around so much.

Lost Time...

Hello!

I know I have been gone a long time again. This time I'm not gonna say that I will try to keep a schedule because I don't know if I can, every time it gets mentioned things get busy. All is well on my front though and there will be some pictures later of what I have been up to lately. :)

How are all of you though? Preparing for holidays?

For me, it's starting to get cold up here in the Midwest, winter is surely coming. In fact snow is predicted in my area tonight. Oh how I long for warmth and yet I could not have a non white Christmas, so I deal with it. Plus it will hopefully mean more time to write to you dear people and read your fine blogs. :) I have been trying to be more active on here lately to spark readership and hopefully connect to some of you fine people. And how is NaNoWriMo for those of you brave souls doing it? I did not participate this year for school has me on a tight chain and my time is limited, but for all of you doing it I wish you the best and will cheer you on from the sidelines.

Also this week is registration week here at my college and I found out I am due to graduate on time and that makes every thing just a little bit more lovely! I hope all of you are doing well today. Here are the pictures:

A Preview

Hello Dears!

Sorry I have been gone so long here is something that will hopefully make it all better. :)

Awhile ago you fine people asked for a sneak peak of a story so that is what you shall get today :) The first few paragraphs of a new story that is called Carnival of Ancients and is accepted to Static Movements anthology Carnival edited by Dorothy Davies. " In my small Midwest town parents have a story they tell all the children. It’s about a carnival that only appears on Friday 13th. No matter which month it falls in, no matter the year, every time there is a Friday 13th a tent is erected on the other side of the lake from our town. This carnival is led by a large clown who ushers people into the tent where they meet a horrible end, or so the story goes.

I was terrified of clowns as I grew up, because of that story; all the kids in the town were. We never attended anything that had clowns, ever. Now I’m older, a teenager, I realize how dumb I had been as a child; our parents had only told us that story to keep us out of the woods. The lights we saw across the lake were probably just parties. In fact, just two weeks ago I was out at a party there. I could see why parents wouldn’t want young kids walking in on a bunch of teenagers drinking or anything else we did out in the middle of the woods. I mean, if we can be that bad on a normal Friday, it’s going to be worse on a Friday 13th.

It’s Friday 13th, a few of my buddies and I see the lights across the lake and get excited. We love to party, drink and hook up with random girls; there isn’t much else to do out here. We set off round the lake, walking the well-worn path next to the river, joking and talking about the different girls we hoped were going to be there.

Soon we could hear laughing and cheering; it sounded like a good time and we hurried to get there. Through an opening in the trees we could see the party clearing, but it wasn’t the usual crowd. Most of it housed a large, bright, yellow and red striped tent. Surrounding it were a bunch of games and food stalls: popcorn, skeeball, sno-cones: it was a real carnival. My friends were super-excited; they thought it was some type of themed party, but I was much more cautious. The carnival people weren’t our friends."

Absence - Wedding

Hello Dears,
How is everyone? I am sorry that I have been gone for two weeks things have been a bit hectic. Starting with two weekends ago, when my sister got married. It was a lot of work but it was beautiful! We had to decorate the hall, and the next day I had to do my hair and get ready I was a brides maid! It was so much fun. And afterward the reception was so much fun! We danced the night away and the food was delicious! Here are some pictures!

Aren't they gorgeous? Lynsie and Josh August 20th, 2011. After the wedding, I took a few days to re cooperate. That week I spent down in Rochester working with Justin's mom on my Ren Fest costume. It was a lot of fun! The weekend after that I went with Justin's family to the MN state fair. His uncle raises cows, so we were watching some of the 4h kids show their cows. So that was nice. I spent the next week cleaning and with my roommate, which was really nice. That weekend it was the state fair with my family, it was a ton fun! I spent the day with Justin and Brooke. Then met up with my family for the talent show which was so nice!

This week I meant to post yesterday between classes, but that didn't happen because an ex wanted to catch up the Justin went into the hospital. So i was worried and distracted so i only got a quick post up. So here is my long post. Normal schedule to resume Tuesday of next week :)

Sorry I have been so absent. It has made me rather sad. I know I have lost some followers because of it. And I will have a long post for you all tomorrow. Today I cannot as I am visiting with my grandparents before school starts. But tomorrow I have time so I will give you a long post and explain :)

Tell-All Tuesday: Home, Belated Blogaversary, and A Request

Hello Dears,

Hope you are all doing well. :) I am taking a break from college life after finishing my last summer class. I am sorry I missed last Thursday I was helping someone move and studying for my final test for class, but I am back in full swing with my blogging schedule and commenting.

So for my break I have gone home, to my childhood home where my parents still live. And as I am watching a movie they said Thomas Wolff said "You can't go home again." But as I am home, I have been thinking about that and I believe that it is both true and false. Yes, their are some people who cant go home due to fire or flood or other disaster, but for the most part in one way or another we can all physically return home. If possible I highly recommend it. It's rather nice to be home and basically go back in time. Plus family time is always nice. For me since I went to college and now have an apartment I haven't been coming home too often. So this is very nice for me.

At the same time, you really can't go home. Even if your at your childhood home, everything is different. Your older, so is your family. So things will be different. You will be treated differently and just in general it will not be the same as it was when you were younger. And home is where the heart is so just because you at your childhood home you may not be where you consider home now. For me I say I have 2 homes, my apartment and my parents home. When I actually get a house I may very well stop calling my parents house home.

What about for you? Where do you call home?

As of August 3rd, my blog is one! Whoo! Right now my blog is not super popular and I don't bring in many comments but I appreciate those of you that have been here since the beginning. I don't really have anything special planned to do for this occasion so I am sorry. But I do have a request.

I would like you lovely people to let me know what I can do better. What would you like me to write about? what would make my blog better?

Tell-All Tuesday - Organization

Hello Dears!

Today is supposed to be about me and my life. :) So I think I will talk about organization. It’s been on my mind a lot lately, and as a college student I should probably have some type of it.

My entire life I haven’t been the most organized person in the world. I am trying to fix that now. Do you fine people have any tips or tricks that you use to keep yourself organized?

I recently bought a 9 shelve storage unit, it’s starting to help. Little by little I have been working in my room here in my apartment. I have the top of my dresser finally done, and my floor is mainly clean the only thing that is 100% clean is my desk.

Isn't my computer so pretty? My boyfriend made it for me. Yes, made it. Anyway, my closet is also clean, mainly because I never use it. The rest of my room is a mess. The nine shelves have stuff on them but the nine shelves are not really organized. Papers shoved into them and other random things. I think I just need to lay everything out and catalogue it then arrange it. Hopefully that will help, that is what I did with my closet. In fact I think this inspired me so I shall go organize. (I hope) Hehe!

Also I realized, Recently was my one year Blogaversary. I must think of something to celebrate.

Overhaul and Schedule

Hello All,

I know I said no more blogging on Fridays, but yesterday was hectic and this will be short, as i have class in a bit. :)

I am going to change the look of my blog a bit today after my class. I think I may keep the jellybeans since there was such a positive response, but I am open to suggestions! So that will be happening today as well as more story boarding which i am also open to suggestions and tips on. :) Also from now on my blogging schedule will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. It will be my old format where Tuesday’s will be tell-all days where it will be more about me, and Thursday's will be more on writing and WIP and stuff like that. Hopefully with a better schedule you guys will be happier and i can attract more readers and attention. :)

Good Morning Bloggers!

So I learned to never post on a Friday cause people aren't around. But if you read this go check out the pictures from my dinner :) So what new in everyone's writing?

For me, I recently rewrote an old carnival story of mine and I think I may submit it to Static Movement. Also with that piece i was going to make it into a novel at some point and now with the changes to this piece (which i think i may use as a prologue) I am starting to storyboard. I never used to storyboard, but this is a bigger project so I am going to try it. :) Do you have any suggestions on how to make a story board better or perhaps other options? Well of to work on the story and read some of your wonderful blogs. :)

I know, I know. This is not the day after my big dinner. Sorry! I got into a writing mood yesterday and had a friend in panic the night before. But I did not forget about you and here I am to show you the meal and the people in my life :)

First the people: Justin! My sweetheart boyfriend! He's awesome, very supportive of my writing. He helps me when my computer and

internet break. Hes super smart with all that tech stuff :)

And my roommate Cameo :) She is the nicest person ever. Kind of a computer addict but a lovely girl all around and so much fun to be around!

Tuesday Tell-All

Hello All~

So it has been three months, I'm sure i have lost followers and I'm not sure how many people will read this but I do apologize and I am back now! Things have been complicated these last few months; boy troubles, friend troubles, moving out, settling in, and more. Things have settles down now though. I have a wonderful boyfriend who spoils me rotten, a wonderful roommate who just gets a little too excited at times and forgets a lot. Our apartment is wonderful (we got a corner so its quite big!) and our stuff is finally mainly put away.

With all that good however comes the sad. I have not been able to blog or stalk in quite some time and that makes me rather sad. I miss writing so I am writing post-it notes to tell myself to write, because honestly its summer I have one class a day and no job i have the time to write, just have to kick my own butt.

Anyway, today my challenge is cleaning up from the dinner last night. My roommate and I have an agreement with some of our guy friends who live in the apartment building next door to do a family dinner two or so nights a week one dinner we cook and one they cook. Last night, one of the boys made dinner they just made it in our apartment so we could keep watching our movie (LOTR 1) but that means we got the mess, and my roommate isn't even here today. So i have been cleaning waiting for the guy to come help like he said, and trying to defrost a turkey. Neither is going too well to be honest. The turkey is in cold water in the sink, which is making washing the dishes rather hard. So I'm taking a break to type to you lovely people and let you know I'm still here :) I will post pictures of my turkey (if it defrosts) tomorrow, along with my apartment, and my boyfriend and roommate :)

Tuesday Tell-All: Time Lapse (on a Wednesday)

Hello All.
I swear i am having time lapses everyone. I thought i blogged last week and suddenly it was two week ago. Like Woah seriously how can i be that spacey? But i am back now and i will tr to be consistent and i hope you all come back to read this blog. :)

So i said last time i would write about my trip to Florida :) Back in January since things have been complicated since then. So over my Colleges J-term, me and my family went to Florida. To be honest it was a bit chilly, always in the 30's and 40's until the last two days.

So unlike last year we decided only to do one universal park to go see Harry Potter Land. And then

we also went to see world then down to Fort Myers to see family. It was great fun. We Also went horse back riding.
It was so much fun! My mom isn't a fan of horses but we managed to get her on one.

The ride was only

supposed to take 30min but it lasted almost 60. It was awesome. It was through the back woods of Florida, and some rivers. It was really cool.

The next day we went to Sea World. And i haven't been there since i was little, so i had no idea

that they had added rollercoasters and stuff. They also of course have the adorable animals. Personal

ly i like sea lions they are just so darn cute!

This First was was called Manta its Sea World newest ride. You get on like a normal foot dangling

coaster, and then they invert you. So yea this entire ride your facing down. It's a lot of fun

though till the loop you backwards, that really messes with the stomache.

This next one i honestly cannot remeber the name of it for the life of me. But it was a normal

coaster with a lot of loops and stuff. It was great if your a coaster fan :)




The third day there we went to Islands of Adventure, to see Harry Potter land. Honestly it was a bit of a let down. Not much was there and everything had lines for it. But i did buy a scarf and the scenery was amazing, so was the butterbeer. (Its not actual

ly beer)

Then after that came the long drive to Fort myers and the site seeing. We went to the beach and i got right up close to pelicans, well as close as i could until i thought it was going to bite me. We also went to Ripley's believe it or not museum. Overall it was a very fun trip, nice and relaxing :)
